Letting go and letting "God"
I know you're probably sick of hearing the whole adage of "Stop trying to force things to happen" or "If it's out of your control just let go". Easier said than done right? Especially as we humans tend to like to think that we are in control in our lives because that's what we're comfortable with - we have this sort of fear of the unknown.
I've most likely blogged quite a lot about this topic, but I think it's important to keep ramming home the message (and keep reminding myself that things will be A-ok). I find it amazing that my boyfriend is pretty much a living example of "letting go and letting God". His motto for a long time has been "I just let the Universe do its work" and I see so many examples of this!
Two days ago he had been talking about the fact that he needed to buy some shoes. In fact, he wanted converse black shoes but if he couldn't find anything for that price, he was happy to get any other brand of shoe as long as it was black and could double up as a practical shoe for his student clinic (he's studying TCM at the moment) and also to wear as he's cycling to the gym and doing weights. His budget? He'd like the shoes around $50 thanks.
After work yesterday we decided to head into one of the factory outlets for Converse shoes. We had found some nice looking black converse shoes but they were a bit out of his budget (and he kept going on and on about how he loved the hi-tops). After having a look at the price and the sales guy basically telling him good luck to getting a sale on the really popular styles, he said it didn't feel like it was the right time so we headed out without looking back.
Whilst at home I remembered seeing a big liquidation shoe sale late last week on my way to buy some supplies for soon to be launched service offering. I told him that there was a place that I recalled were selling converse shoes and he might find something there. We ended up going there today as it was on our way home from an afternoon of lawn bowls with my friends.
When we walked into the place, we headed straight to the back and I picked up these black shoes which actually looked quite decent. They weren't converse but they were ridiculously priced - $10. I thought they could double up as my bf's clinic shoes and his gym shoes and he agreed. He wanted to check out the converse shoes first though and all of the shoes that were available from converse were $50. Yep - $50! There were some black ones which would have been suitable for his clinic but he saw the white hi tops and then he got really excited as that was his FAVOURITE type of shoe (plus the colour) and it was $50. Anyway, suffice to say we walked out with 3 pairs of shoes for $70 which was pretty good (he ended up buying 2 pairs of those $10 shoes).
This isn't the only time where I've seen the Universe working for him. Last year he found his now car within 5 days of his car breaking down, he found a job with his favourite rugby team after literally thinking about how he could make some more money the day before and he found the most perfect cast iron pan for me when I couldn't find one that I wanted.
He tells me the best thing is not to fight it and just let things "rock n roll". *sigh*. Easy for him to say but it's hard to do sometimes! What I love is that whenever I have doubts about things seeing how the Universe works around him gives me a lot of hope.
So let's try to stop controlling things, let things go and just be! Try being the operative word of course haha!
