Time to move on
Recently work has been pretty busy. I have also started to seriously consider my working arrangements from July this year and have been trying to gather as much as information as possible to see how I will be from a financial perspective if I become a sole trader and the pros and cons of doing it.
Over the weekend, I visited a couple who are good friends of mine and the husband asked me whether I had started considering building a website for my new business. I hadn't really thought about it but he gave me a few tips on places to go to and when I came back home, I opened up my laptop and started designing the website of my business once it goes live. As I designing the website, I began to think that I needed to start thinking of an appropriate name for my business, and come up with a logo. That night, I went to sleep asking my guides for some help in creating a logo and that morning, in the few minutes before I fully woke up, they gave me the idea. I think the logo sums me up and the ethos I have for my business perfectly, so now I've put it out there that I will meet the designer who will actual make my logo a reality. Let's see how that goes!
As part of coming up with the content for my website, I naturally wanted to have a page that described the different modalities that I would be using. Each session with a client would be very much catered to their specific needs, but I would have so many "tools" that if the situation called for it, I would use it. One of the modalities I listed for the neural skeletal technique that MM and I learnt in Melbourne at the end of last year.
To be honest, after learning that technique, at that point in time, I was struggling to see how 1. I could remember to apply it; 2. Whether I would have the opportunity to actually practice it; and 3. how I could weave it into my massage practice. As we know, I have practiced the technique quite sporadically since January and had only applied it in "chunks" as opposed to going through the entire sequence.
MM had identified this technique as a potential technique that could help his client who suffered from chronic pain in her left leg. The first time I met her, MM asked me to use a particular technique and we saw from that that it reduced the pain significantly, although the mobility was still somewhat restricted. The second time I saw her (2 weeks ago), I had gained a bit more confidence in using the technique as I had practiced it on my mother the week prior to that and my mum had said something had changed and that she felt a bit better. I used the first "chunk" of the technique on MM's client and she had remarked that something seemed different and that it was a bit easier for her to move although the pain was still there.
Today MM messaged me and told me his client was back again so I ducked out of work and headed over to meet them. His client and her husband are so lovely and I'm really grateful that they let me experiment on her with the technique. When I came in, I asked her how she was and she told me that after the last treatment, she had felt something different, didn't know what it was, but she managed to take a few steps without aid which for her was a huge huge huge step. I was really pleased at this (and MM too) and I remarked to MM that I think this technique can be used on people who had emotional issues but did not want to confront them. He agreed with me and we were explaining the concept to his client and her husband.
MM was massaging her when I came in and he told me that even he felt a difference because previously he wouldn't have been able to massage her that deeply without her wincing in pain but now she was fine with it. I asked him if at the end of the massage we could try the other technique and he was cool with that. So I did the same sequence as last time and to my surprise, there was no imbalance. We then had to proceed to the third "chunk" which I actually had not practiced yet so I was a bit apprehensive about this. MM however was quite encouraging and helped me figure out what muscles were where and their origin and I ended up identifying two/three imbalances of the muscles and fixing those.
I know they will be coming back in 2 weeks to see MM again and I would be very interested to see if the technique was indeed working on her. I have a strong feeling that she will have improved significantly by the time I see her again - I think this technique is amazing! They were asking me about what made me want to transition and I was telling them and they seemed to be really interested in my journey. They asked if I was going to build my own business and MM interjects and says "Ya that's what we're working on right now" - which was great for me to hear because I know he's got my back and that he wants us to work together in the future. They seemed to be really grateful for my help and I'm just really happy to have been able to help them!
During the session, MM was mentioning that he had a client who used to be a boxer but got into a car accident so for the past 2 years has barely been able to walk. He said his client was now at the stage where he could get on a treadmill and walk and that was such a huge difference from where he was 2 years ago. I told MM that I thought that the new technique would assist his client even more in terms of mobility and MM agreed. He also said that he would make me perform the technique on this new client so it'll be interesting to see if that one came true!
One of my "prayers" was for me to have a bunch of clients who really appreciated what I was doing and was interested in me living my life's purpose and it seems that this is slowly being answered with MM letting me work on his first client, and then potentially working on client number 2.
In the meantime, both his first client and my mum said they experience light "tingling" sensations after having undergone that technique so I'm off to pick the brains of the guys who taught it to us to see if they have any explanation for this. Fun stuff!!
