Own your power!

Some of you might know that Caroline Myss, a medical intuitive, is hosting a number of workshops in Australia starting next week. I'm very fortunate to be attending the Sydney on next Saturday with another workmate of mine, and I'm really excited about it! I was first introduced to Caroline Myss by my crystal healer. She suggested that I read her book, Anatomy of the Spirit, as this would give me a good idea of how the chakras work, what each chakra embodies, and ties in very nicely how the main religions can all relate to the concept of the chakras.

One of the main things that Caroline emphasizes in her book is personal power. She says that lots of the time the lower chakras will become out of balance if you let someone else take your own power. Throughout your entire life, there is only one constant - yourself. Other people come and go, and fortunately there are a good few who stay around a lot longer than others. However, the fact of the matter is, you are with yourself from day 1. No one else can claim that privilege (unless you're the guardian angel of your soul and they would have been around you since day minus X).

So why is it that we mere mortals readily like giving our power away to others and make ourselves miserable in the process? The first chakra is called the base or root chakra, and it's all concerned about the "group" mentality. Ie. we want to belong as part of a group, a tribe, so we do things to be "accepted" by the group. Homosexuals for example may spend a lot of their young years in denial in an effort to "fit in" - all the while progressively sinking into a depression because they cannot be who they really are. In this case, the person has given their personal power to the group to control.

The second chakra is the sacral chakra - and this is about relationships with other people. So first the root is based on the "group", and then we move to relationships with other people who we have a bit more of a connection with. You have a high chance of your sacral chakra and the organs around that area being out of whack if you gave your power away to someone else - e.g. a wife is in a relationship with her husband where her husband constantly abuses her and she won't do anything without her husband giving consent. She has given away her power to her husband - in that case I wouldn't be surprised if she had issues with infertility.

The third chakra, the solar plexus, is about the relationship with yourself. If you're out of whack in this chakra, it's because you generally refuse to see the power that you actually have to change things! Case in point is self esteem. If you have low self esteem, you lack the ability to see how wonderful you are, constantly comparing yourself to others, never thinking you are good enough. Well, let me slap you in the face and tell you that that is absolute bollocks! You are you, you are a creation of God, and you are just fine. No one is like you - you are unique, so embrace whatever uniqueness you have! Stop criticising yourself for things you may have done that were "wrong" - you made the decision that was best for you at the particular point in time. And stop living in the past - what happened, happened. So why do you keep looking back instead of moving forward? If you have low self esteem, I wouldn't be surprised if you had digestive issues.

As you can see, you are the one who can change the perception of your power, and you are the only one who makes the conscious choice of who you give you power to. Going back to the woman in my second example, this woman was abused so much by her husband that she lost the power to do whatever she wanted. However, once she "woke up" and made the decision that she didn't want to feel that way anymore, she could walk out and live a life that she truly deserves. Say hello to fertility!

As a wannabe massage therapist with a holistic practice, I strongly believe that a lot of the physical ailments that you have are a direct correlation to your emotional state. I believe this because I myself have been the client of kinesiology and remedial massage and have learnt why certain things in my physical body seemed to appear out of the blue when I am a relatively fit person. It's important to treat the underlying cause instead of the symptom - and to be honest, sometimes the causes are to do with your choice to give away your personal power to someone else.

So, take a look at various aspects of your life in which you have given your power away to others, and if you're doing it for no good reason (and it doesn't make you happy like how you SHOULD and DESERVE to be happy), then make the conscious decision right now to take that power back!
