If there's anything that you can do - think for yourself!
Recently I've been reading a series called Conversations from God by Neale Donald Walsch. I finished reading book 2 yesterday, and started book 3 today. Book 2 dealt with a lot of world issues, and if you thought Book 1 was thought provoking, Book 2 is even more thought provoking.
Amongst a number of things, Book 2 covers politics and the collective consciousness and the main message is to think for yourself and never ever stop questioning the status quo. A theme is that the world is the way it is, with all of its inequality, wars, hunger, etc because of the way we are - or rather, what we put up with as a collective human race. The world is essentially the way it is because of fear and greed - and the fact that both of these are tied with money. If the world functioned on the premise that everyone was connected to each other and that love was the only answer to all problems, the argument in Book 2 is that we wouldn't have a lot of the issues that we are facing today (and have been facing over the history of the human race).
That's some pretty heavy material right there! This week, I was sitting in the kitchen at lunch chatting to a good friend of mine when another workmate popped in and joined us. I don't chat to him often but he is incredibly knowledgeable and says some pretty thought provoking stuff sometimes. I have also had previous chats with him about my transition to energy healing and he was very interested in the energetic world and what else was out there.
He told us a story that fit in really well with the topic of Book 2. His young daughter one day was sitting his his car as they were preparing to go somewhere. Everyone in the car had their seatbelts on, but his daughter hadn't put it on yet. He told his daughter to put on her seatbelt, to which she begrudgingly agreed to do, obviously not without asking why. His response was "Well you need to have the seatbelt on in case someone drives into your car and it will protect you from getting hurt in an accident". His daughter's response was nothing short of brilliant - she looked at him and said "Well if everyone drove safely then we wouldn't need seatbelts would we?".
That statement just showed how intelligent our younger generation is because they have not yet been tainted or brainwashed to believe in the what the rest of society has been brought up to believe. Kids say it like it is! So let's continue to go with this statement that our lovely girl has uttered.
If everyone drove safely, we wouldn't need a seatbelt. Following on from this, if everyone drove safely, we wouldn't have ANY accidents on the road. Road deaths would basically come down to zero - which is great for society no? In addition, people would have more money in their pocket because things like all those insurances (green slip, CTP, etc) wouldn't be required. So if people had a bit more money in their pocket, perhaps people this could be a stepping stone to closing the barrier between the rich and the poorer, and people could afford housing, etc.
So think about this hypothetical new world - doesn't this in and of itself sound so so good? So why isn't it ACTUALLY like that? Hmm let's see. We get rid of the need for insurance - we don't need insurance companies. If we look at the world, insurance companies are rich because they instill FEAR in people - the fear of something going wrong. So based on the fear, they get people to cough up their money on a contingency that more often than not, does not eventuate. Think those insurance companies are going to be happy with this situation? Didn't think so... and what's the bet that the politicians who run our countries have some sort of connection to the people who run these insurance companies? Do you see where I'm going? We humans are pawns of the greedy - those who feed on the fear of people. They don't want us to become a better society because it means that they lose their power over us.
You're probably thinking "what can I do? I'm just one person out of a zillion people. My opinion doesn't count." Let me tell you this - your opinion COUNTS. You CAN make a difference. Start voting for those who actually question the status quo, start spreading your thoughts about how you think the world should run, start spreading your observations on the audacity of what is happening in our world right now. You WILL find someone who will agree with you on this point, and they in turn will find another person, and another, and another. It's a ripple effect - the more you can get this out there, the more people who can challenge the status quo, we can rise up and change the collective consciousness of the world.
I'm beginning to believe that one of my purposes in life is to help encourage you to think differently and NOT be afraid of it. We all have opinions and we should be heard.
So come on, it's time to think for yourself! Start challenging your own beliefs and live your own life. Good luck :)
