The power of intuition

Never underestimate the power of your intuition. As an energy healer, we are taught and ultimately must trust our intuition and how it speaks to us. It is through our intuition that we are able to pierce through the superficial issues that are presented to us in our clients and really be able to dive deeper to discover what the underlying issues are that give rise to what our client is currently experiencing.

The biggest hurdle we face is to trust in that intuition - trust that gut feel. Many times our left brain likes to kick in and persuade us using logic that what we think we ought to do just does not make sense at all and for many of us, it's a constant struggle between left brain (logic) and right brain (intuitive) thinking.

For me personally, when I am performing energy healing on others, it is easier for me to trust and be guided by my intuition. All of my experience working on clients has shown me that my intuition is spot on 98% of the time and so I am quite comfortable with having that guide me in those sessions. The issue I face however is to marry that with the body worker side of me - when I massage I find it easy to let my "hands do the walking" but what happens when you have a client that presents with something that you may find it logically quite difficult to explain why you choose to work in a certain area? Somehow I don't think "My intuition tells me to do it" will float with a client who is very analytical about how the world works and seeks to have evidence to back everything up!

Anyway, let's have a bit of a chat about this client. I was asked to massage him a number of months back now and he presented with really severe neck pain. His thoracic region was also like a rock, and no matter what I did from a massage perspective, it didn't seem like things were getting better (although he did say that his pain had reduced a bit and his acupuncturist gave him feedback that I was doing a good job). I pretty much focused my massage around his shoulder, thoracic area and neck area.

After a number of sessions, I started to feel like crap because things didn't seem to get better. In the meantime he had gone into surgery and come out the other side all well but the pain in the neck was still there. I spoke to my bf about it and he suggested work around the jaw and showed me a few techniques I could do. Jaw work in a way made sense but I still wasn't sure about it so I sat down and meditated. During that meditation Kuan Yin came through and was giving me tips on what to do and told me that I should indeed be working on the jaw. So the next session I went in and worked on his jaw - he normally falls asleep whilst I am working on him in this way so I told him afterwards that I actually heard his jaw click a number of times whilst I was working on it and that was that. After a few more sessions he was getting a lot more concerned about the pain in the neck so I told him that he should go to a doc and get some scans done - in the meantime I would stay away from massaging the area as I didn't want to risk making it worse if there was degeneration in his neck.

Weeks pass and I get the call to go back and massage him again. I asked about his scans and he said "Yea so apparently it is all coming from my jaw!". I had to hide my excitement when he said that because I instantly got the flashbacks of my bf telling me about the jaw and my meditation with Kuan Yin. I.e. trusting my intuition was the best thing to do even though for a majority of the time I was really trying to logically understand why. As it turns out, I had forgotten that the jaw is pretty much linked to a lot of neck and even hip issues. Over the past few weeks I myself found this out as the issues I had in my right hip were directly related to my jaw (which I also think has a connection to my right shoulder). Anyway, so the last treatment I did on him had about 1/2 hr of jaw work and I could really feel a lot of movement happening (although once again my client had dozed off).

*sigh* Yet another lesson from the Universe about trusting my intuition and going with it even though my client and I initially might think "how the heck is this related"?

Speaking of intuition, I just received a phone call from a friend who I met during my biodynamic craniosacral therapy studies. It warped into me signing up to go to this introductory session next Wednesday about a particular healing modality. Something is telling me that I need to go to this, and the timing of the call (when we hung up) was 11:11... so stay tuned!
