My taste of a Kahuna massage

Today I had my first taste of a kahuna massage - which is a Hawaiian massage technique that uses rhythmic motions all over the body (you essentially are nude on the massage table) and provides an overall body, mind and spirit balancing experience.

My angels/spiritual team told me that I needed to "de-stress" today and to take care of myself. I was supposed to give a massage today but it was cancelled so I thought hell, why don't I give myself a foot epsom salt bath (which I did) and afterwards I started googling massage places near me. Most of what popped up were thai massage places but that didn't resonate with me one bit. I then stumbled on Kahuna massage, it happened to be a 15 min walk from home and when I read that it was a very holistic sort of therapy I was sold.

As the Universe would have it, I was supposed to get that sort of massage today as I was told that usually the weekends were booked out but there was a cancellation and the slot was available for me if I wanted it. Yes please!

The massage was surreal. Lots of oil and yes, you are nude. The only thing that is covered is essentially your butt crack and your genital area - everything else is free for all - boobs and all (at least my therapist was a chick)! It took a while for me to really relax into it and there was a lot of focus on breathing and letting out "sighs and "noises" like when in yoga you may chant "om" or other sorts of mantras. The sighs and noises when made on the exhalation send vibrations throughout the body and encourage areas of tension to release. Not to mention when you are matching the same frequency as the therapist the energy in the room is quite surreal.

Anyway, after 1.5 hrs, I was sufficiently relaxed and yes it was an amazing experience. There were times during that massage that I could feel tingling sensations around my hands and arms, and there was one time when the therapist was working on my left shoulder and whilst I was breathing in and out my right arm was making all these movements. Close to the end I had a past life regression - extremely quick but I was in Egypt, and I had that typical "Sia" hairstyle and my hair was jet black. I was wearing some very beautiful jewellery and wore a gorgeous dress which to me means that I must have been in the "higher echelons" of the Egyptian society in order to afford that.

After that my therapist told me that I had a lot of tension in my thoracic spine. This was related to my solar plexus area (which probably means I have issues with power) and my heart (most likely giving and receiving love). I read an article which said thoracic spine issues could be the fact that I carry the weight of my past and not listening to my own needs <-- sounds like me to a tee. The fact that there was so much tension there also most likely contributes to the fact that my breathing is crap - i.e. it's blocked and there isn't a steady flow from my diaphragm and up. In fact, I'm probably breathing wrong! My quick research shows that the PROPER way of breathing is when you inhale, you expand your stomach and get a pot belly, and when you exhale you draw the belly into your spine. Whoops!

The massage brought up a lot of issues that I wasn't aware of which to me was what I needed. As the therapist was saying, there was no coincidence I came across the kahuna massage at this stage of my life. Try it out if you feel that resonates with you!
